Now asking €950,000 and the cheapest in the estate by far, everything else for sale is €1.2 to nearly €2 million.
Can anyone on here explain the attraction of this place? Yes, they are big houses and yes, Castleknock is nice but not great. I had a drive by, the other day and it looked like Stepford Wives meets (fake) Georgian Lego Land. No soul, no charm, nothing but streets of big fake ‘Georgian’ style gaffs in Dublin 15.
They were the bees knees when they were first built in a very Dallas meets Dynasty kind of a way. That was cool as shit 30 years ago, but now all the phony Doric columns and bay windows just look stupid and pretentious imo.
I have a vague recollection of Fintan O’Toole writing about them and how desirable they were (in contrast to the real Georgian stuff), despite the fact that there was an ‘issue’ that had to be remedied by the builder.
here it is: (from the infamous Paddy Kelly interview)
