ABP Oral Hearing into Former UCD Vet Site Development today

An Bord Pleanála’s Oral Hearing into appeals against Ray Grehan’s “One Ballsbridge” on the same block as Seán Dunne’s Jurys Berkeley Court site began today at the RDS.

The vibe so far is that similar planning issues apply to both projects (incorrect zoning & excessive scale), so An Bord Pleanála’s decision here is a big one.

Colm Mac Eochaidh SC is representing 15 residents associations and individuals, and so far he has been heavily critical of Dublin City Council planner Kieran Rose and the fact that he is not present to justify his granting of planning.

Mac Eochaidh has also claimed that because of a the 2000 Planning Act and the way that DCC granted planning for the development, ABP legally cannot grant permission for the development. Might be chancing his arm though.

More information here.

The hearing is taking place in the Minerva Suite on the Merrion Road side of the RDS, and is open to the public if anyone is interested. 10am-6pm for the next week or so.

A whole lot of money riding on the decision!

Has Ray Grehan’s proposal had as much “support” as Sean Dunne’s?!

No he’s played it straight so far, just chucked in his application and it was granted by DCC despite plenty of local objections.

Residents and others seem to be mainly angry with Dublin City Council planners and specifically Kieran Rose rather than having a problem with Ray Grehan.
