Clontra, Shankill (-15.25m, -82.4%)

Incredible house on the market again for €3.25m.

It sold in 2003 for €17m or maybe €19m.

I know it well and have always admired it. Very different.

Correction: It was 2005 and it was on market or €15m.

Currently, about 20% of what it was “valued” at in 2005.

Really interesting house. Built by the then Attorney General, James Lawson QC, in the 1860s.

It sold shorty thereafter and a planning application for apartments was later turned down. The EA tells the story in the blurb.

Hard to know what one would do with it. It has a piano nobile, so bedrooms downstairs and reception rooms upstairs. Protected structure, so little enough change to interior possible. Murals are wonderful on ceilings inside. Like the ones in Kilkenny Castle.

Money-pit I fear.

Fantastic. Not sure what could be done with the house though.

Exceptionally beautiful house in a fantastic location, walking distance of the DART.

Seems to have been refurbished sympathetically in recent years.
