Credit Unions offering mortgages?

Back in January we had
Credit Unions’ €400m pot to push mortgage lending rules
independent.ie/business/pers … 89278.html

signed off by ILCU vote at AGM in April
ILCU credit unions to set up centralised mortgage system following AGM vote

No sign of this yet but some credit unions are providing switcher mortgages, such as CANA canacu.ie/switcher-mortgage/

The only CU I can find offering new mortgage lending is the Garda one
straphaelscu.ie/loans/mortga … tion-loan/

Assuming this central lending does happen, I wonder how competitive their rates will be?

Not very competitive judging by the Gardai CU rate advertised:
Variable Interest Rate of 3.75% (3.82% APR)*

I think we have established the Gardai aren’t very good with numbers so a high rate shouldn’t be a hindrance.

I’m afraid that once CU’s really start rolling out the mortgages, we’re on another highway to hell.
I don’t trust them at all to manage something like this
