Dublin Properties for Sale

Does anyone have any ideas as to why the number of properties for in Dublin has fallen over the last few months while the number of properties for sale in the country has remained broadly static.

Other counties have continued to increase - have a look at Limerick, Galway, Wicklow etc, so they’re balancing each other out perhaps.

Well rentals in Dublin have increased most dramatically. i also believe demand is greatest in dublin. Also I would guess that most dublin sellers are holding off like buyers.

i think that the penny has dropped that living in the sticks and commuting is just a bad idea that will ruin ur life. so these houses are just popped out for rent instead, thats why they are static and not increasing.

Very many of the houses that were built in the countryside are totally unrentable. There are thousands of houses built by farmers/farmers sons/speculators who though that they could make a quick buck. (I’m from a farm and part farmer - so don’t even start on that) The commute into Galway, Limerick, etc is every bit as bad as Dublin. Our countryside will be blighted by these big unwanted houses for along time to come.

3000 sq foot or bigger. I hope they are all planning to have big families 8)

Not the first time the country was filled with big mansions either. They made some sense during the boom as the site was free so it looked like ‘you’d be a fool to build a small house on that site’ Once the roof went on you had doubled/ tripled your money.

I’d have to disagree with this. I was interested in this so I checked some of the increases between Sept 1st & Today on Daftwatch county by county, the number of rentals in Dublin increases by 59%, Vs 150% in Monaghan & 142% in Leitrim. Full table below, but numbers are approximate as I had to read them off the graphs:

Ok, I stand corrected! Dublin i think however is norm for the country as whole. This is how I see it.
2200 rentals in sept,3500 now = 62% increase.
nationwide 6000 in sept, 9500 now = 66% increase.

Since this is a general trend, im equally stumped, I always put it down to extra rentals!
