Reasonably central, don’t mind if apartment or house. Looking for recommendations. Would probably be for about a month.
I haven’t stayed in one, but I work in one of the universities and so I regularly book them for visiting academics and PhD students to cover their first couple of weeks in Ireland. I find the asking prices of some of the short let companies are mad. But I can recommend some reasonable ones if you PM me. Another alternative is D4 hotels (or whatever they are called now) who will negotiate a good long term rate if you haggle or several B and Bs also do long term rates. Believe it or not this can work out cheaper than a short let apartment.
There are decent enough apartments attached to the Mespil Hotel: mespilhotel.com/
It’s a two-week minimum I think. Stayed there a couple of years ago and would consider it again.
I’ve rented some other places short-term but wouldn’t recommend them.
Thanks everyone. Mocame, will PM you in due course if it transpires we need one, as plans now slightly altered.
In the process of selling and buying a property. There will be a gap between selling my home and the closing date of the new property. I am wondering am I better of renting on a longer lease and losing my deposit or a short term let
Try StayCity if you fancy the locations (one off Jervis St, one off Augustine St). If it’s for more than a week I’d give them a call and negotiate a rate.
Orlagh, you could always look for a normal rental but be up-front with the landlord. They might be happy enough with a 6-month lease if you don’t negotiate too hard on the rent.
Stayed in Cathedral Court, Clanbrassil Street for a month, it’s fully serviced and is secure with off street parking.
Plenty of teachers renting their house out for three months over the summer ; )
Some colleges rent out rooms during the summer months as there is low occupancy. You could try to negotiate a rate for a cultural experience here: tcd.ie/accommodation/Visitors/
I have stayed here several times: maynoothcampus.com/accommodation.php
Basic, very clean, nice buildings, very inexpensive, but its a short train trip into Dublin.
