The court heard Mr Killoran claims the terms of a lease agreement he entered into with the guesthouse’s operator, Derek Byrne, has been breached.

Mr Byrne, in an affidavit, said Mr Killoran has taken this action in a bid to prevent receivers, appointed last month by AIB over Mr Killoran’s interest in the premises, from collecting rent due under the terms of the lease agreement.

Not sure if the property is mortgaged, but I guess we’ll see a lot more of this where BTLers pocket the rent rather than paying the mortgage. I also believe some OMCs are looking at this kind of order where a BLTer has built up arrears in service charges.

i’m confused…he’s going to get no rent what whatsoever now by barricading himself in and locking the place up as I presume the 126k is spread the over the yr. So what is he hoping to achieve as this will shit the business down alltogether
