Irish bank - how are they funding themseleves

With the banks back open and lending, well according to their ads anyway, how are they rolling over their debts and getting access to fresh cash for new lending?

I know their balance sheets are stuffed with cash due to bailout, but aren’t they meant to be keeping this for bad debts etc…

Surely they are not able to finance themselves via the open market yet?

All big banks have been funded with unlimited liquidity from the irish central bank and the ECB.
The emergency liquidity schemes are scheduled to be wound down over the next couple of years and thats why AIB is lobbying hard for a direct capital injection from the ESM. Its doubtful that theyll get it.

Despite all the advertising, its clear from central bank stats that the banks arent making many new loans.
