Nigel Farage, the former U.K. Independence Party leader who helped lead the successful Brexit campaign, will become a contributor on Fox News.

Farage, 52, the first foreign politician to meet with Donald J. Trump after his presidential victory in November, will provide prime-time and day-time political analysis on Fox News and Fox Business, according to a statement Friday from 21st Century Fox Inc.’s 24-hour news network.

Former Ukip leader Malcolm Pearson initially attempted to organise a peerage for Farage but then switched to lobby instead for a knighthood when it became apparent he would have had to quit as an MEP in order to take up any seat in the Lords. After the bid was rejected he asked Carswell to approach the chief whip, Gavin Williamson, to appeal against the decision.

In an email from 31 December leaked to the Telegraph, Carswell wrote to the peer: “As promised, I did speak to the government chief whip. Perhaps we might try angling to get Nigel an OBE next time round? For services to headline writers? An MBE, maybe? Let’s discuss.”

Farage insisted the exchanges reveal his Ukip colleague was “consumed with jealousy and a desire to hurt me” and called on the current leader, Paul Nuttall, to expel him.

In fairness to Marine Le Pen, she has managed to avoid the backstabbing and internal chaos that far-right/populist movements have seen recently in Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK.

FYI: the European economy has been chugging away reasonably well in the last few years. When unemployment is falling this kind of stuff seems less appealing. Even the AAA have acknowledged that austerity is over.
