The only reason I’m creating a thread about this is because I’ve seen all number of figures thrown around.
According to the Irish Banking Federation, there were 38,000 First Time Buyers last year.
Of those 38,000, only 2,000 First Time Buyers actually paid Stamp Duty.
Another thing worth noting is that a rough search of Daft with the criteria of at least 1 bedroom (to roughly exclude the sites) gives 37198 properties. Then add the further limit of 300k as the max price, and the number of properties is 14870, so approx 40% of the inventory for sale in Ireland is well under the old SD rate.
