Ryan new leader of the Greens

irishtimes.com/newspaper/bre … king3.html

BWAHAHAHAHA. Excellent news! Now they’re NEVER coming back!

Funny, when I read that a song came to mind

Crazy, I’m crazy for feeling so lonely
I’m crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you’d love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you’d leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond’ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I’m crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I’m crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I’m crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I’m crazy for loving you.

It’s like the the Stoern of political announcements and leaderships.

Spotted on twitter.

“7 out of 10 Greens voted for Eamon Ryan. Thats not a ratio, those are the actual figures!”

Looks like somebody ate their greens!!

You have to remember the greens have lost many core members. The irish electorate certainly ate the greens up good. So this vote is a vote for Stockholm.

The Greens destroyed FF to the point where it is possible that they will never be in government again. I feel they took the blame in the public mind for a situation that came about from 1997-2007 during a period of near consensus amongst the media and the electorate that we were doing everything right.

Ryan is not an intellectual colossus but he has a certain warmth and charisma that Gormley lacked.

I wish them the best.

I can’t believe the Greens still exist as a party. I genuinely thought they would dissolve and disband the way the PD’s did back in the day. Mary Harney and Micheal Mc Dowell at least, in fairness, and I can’t stand either of them as politicians (nothing personal to either of them! )- they had the dignity to call a halt to the Party. Hell it’s been fun, Mr. Ryan, but the party is well and truly over. I think we would need a certain Mr. B O’bama complete with his apostrophe, leading the Greens if they were to be taken seriously ever again by the Irish Elctorate. I will never forget them insisting on debating the Puppy Farm Bill or whatever they called it, for 2 full days in the throws of our economic Armageddon, Miriam O’C and Constantin in turmoil on Tuesday and Thursday nights after the news on RTE. The whole Irish parliament was breathless from debating whether Bran should be allowed have a puppy every year or not.

You have to be kidding, right? Ryan always seemed somewhere between cranky and psychotic-looking every time I saw him on the telly. And in the Dáíl he always had his stary eyes fixed on the floor in front of him – I always fancied if anyone was ever going to do a “postal” in the chamber it was him. If he was charismatic it was in the manner of Rasputin.

That, he is not.

I once saw him talk at an IT event where he claimed he learned about technology when playing video games in “The Trap” in UCD. That was it, no further explanation of his credentials.

The Greens destroyed FF!! FF were victilms of the Greens XX

By endorsing the insane, incompetent, vote-gathering policies of McCreevy, Ahern, Cowan et al it was more a case assisted suicide, I should think.

Well I’m delighted to see the back of them anyway.

By the way; regardless of the ‘non-profit’ fig leaf; is it not still a significant ethical conflict for a former cabinet minister to now be hawking his wares; or does this just go into the ‘do as I say, not as I do’ bucket ?

Why does Ryan the gimp get a pass, when Country Tom was rightly pilloried ?

I like the greens…preferably boiled and with a little salt to bring out the flavour, but as a political force they’re a couple of places below the M&M peanuts.

They took the blame alright, but I’d be interested in seeing the logic or evidence behind saying they destroyed FF.

The difference between the Greens and the PDs of course, is that the Green party grew out of a movement and that movement will remain and the party will represent those who feel there’s little point in being part of a movement that doesn’t at least aim to bring about some political change. It’s not the same thing at all.

i find it perplexing that so many green party supporters are so hopelessly optimistic. ryan is dimmer then the green party reading room, if he stays in charge the greens will continue their ascent into obscurity.

in the meantime expect gormley to do anything to get back into power anywhere.

Do all political parties not grow out of a movement though, to be fair?
