Sharp fall for Dublin office occupancy costs

There’s a lot of talk about what will get slashed in the budget.
Why can the government not introduce emergency legislation to immediately halve the rent on all property leased to the public sector, or allow for the contract to be cancelled without penalty and other property taken up?
What sort of square metres would be involved across the country, and what kind of savings could be achieved?

The rule of law?

laws can be changed in time of emergency

Fixed that for you

Hard to justify that difference.

Commercial property values, rents ( and subsequently commercial rates) are all still far too high. I believe this is the next property sector which is going to experience (further?) price declines in the coming year.
