The NFL star and the brain injuries that destroyed him

Most seem to be very thick, but a few books I have read would suggest there are a lot of bad advisors/leeching off them. The amounts of money they are paid is obscene but a lot come from under privilaged backgrounds and have never learnt life skills. And of course a lot have made seriously bad property investments in America and been caught quite badly

Allen Iverson Earned Over $200 Million In His NBA Career. Now He’s Reportedly Broke. Say, What?

The vast majority of NFL players are not paid nearly as well as a player like TO. While it is not buttons, it is not a huge amount either. Also, the way contracts are structured, guaranteed pay can be very low, find yourself out injured and you get very little pay for the duration. It is usually the guys who are putting their bodies on the line that are paid the least. There is also a problem with the players in terms of everyday intelligence and as has been mentioned, the usual hangers on/advisors. This story is not really new regarding sports stars going broke. There have been plenty of examples of this through the last 50 years.

Did nobody see Jerry Maguire?

As far as I know it appears to be NFL or bust whereas in baseball there are the minor leagues and foreign leagues to go to. In addition many baseball players play well into their late 30’s.
