The Great Global Warming Debate

Exactly, panels are more likely to be scrapped when they become damaged or simply look too scruffy.
It is the usual FUD while completely ignoring the massive scale of planned obsolescence that is prevalent in the rest of the technology manufacturing sector.

Classic diversionary tactic to get people to look at the dark side of energy harvesting as opposed to the direct pollution caused by fossil fuels.

"The central aim of the Paris climate agreement is to limit global warming to well below 2℃ and pursue efforts to keep it below 1.5℃. To achieve this, global CO₂ emissions must decline by 3% and 7% each year, respectively, until 2030, according to the United Nations Emissions Gap Report.

Thanks to Covid-19, we may achieve this reduction in 2020."

Many people arent happy with lockdowns, for a pandemic, because of the resulting economic damage, how on earth can we reduce emissions by the amount required?

"Compared with the 12 months prior, Australia’s CO2 emissions are expected to fall 8 per cent over the 2019-20 financial year, to their lowest levels since 1998.

The report shows the steepest drops in emissions are due to less jet fuel and petrol being used

Is that the answer, no flights and electric cars? Obviously it’s all pointless without a halt on population growth worldwide

We all know that the economy is more important than the environment, but the lockdowns have proven that life can continue without infinite growth!
just need to level out population growth, easier said than done when many countries have no qualms about increasing their numbers to crowd out others.

Scientists have identified 24 “superhabitable” planets outside our solar system that may have conditions more suitable for life than Earth.

The exoplanets are older, a little larger, slightly warmer and possibly wetter than Earth, the study by Washington State University (WSU) found.

Water is critical for life and the study found a slightly overall warmer temperature, a mean surface temperature of about 5 degrees greater than Earth, together with extra moisture, would be also better for life

But the bugs would be huge.

With short stumpy legs like elephants to cope with the gravity.

For those who have struggled over the years and decades to figure it all out and put the pieces together, thankfully due to 2020, you get a once in a lifetime chance access to cheat sheets - 'cause you know, seeing is believing.

Under a “climate lockdown,” governments would limit private-vehicle use, ban consumption of red meat, and impose extreme energy-saving measures, while fossil-fuel companies would have to stop drilling. To avoid such a scenario, we must overhaul our economic structures and do capitalism differently.

Three interconnected crises

COVID-19 is itself a consequence of environmental degradation: one recent study dubbed it “the disease of the Anthropocene.” Moreover, climate change will exacerbate the social and economic problems highlighted by the pandemic. These include governments’ diminishing capacity to address public-health crises, the private sector’s limited ability to withstand sustained economic disruption, and pervasive social inequality.
