House deeds in the first all-foreigner housing estate in the country were distributed to owners Friday, with Aydın Governor Mustafa Malay opening the first section of the complex.
Two Irish entrepreneurs, Liam Mclvor and Anthony McCloskey, chose to build a housing complex for their fellow citizens rather than use local intermediaries to purchase homes.
The housing estate, located near the old garbage dump close to the tourist resort of Kuşadası, will include 304 houses when completed. On Friday, the deeds of 72 houses were handed over to owners. The houses were built by Şengel Construction company.
The all-Irish owners of the houses have already imposed their own rules in the housing estate, Whispering Sands. There will be no smoking within the grounds of the complex.
The design of the housing estate reflects the architectural tastes of the Irish and will include two pools, a bar, a restaurant, a fitness center, playgrounds and a football field.
McCloskey said they had designed the complex in accordance with the demands of the owners. In Ireland, one cannot smoke in the open and that’s what we have done here.
