What stuffed the airline and car industries in the US was not so much the cost of retirees, but the unwillingness to save for them. Management bonuses were based on increasing the share price. The share price was increased based on increased distributed profits (either through dividends or share buybacks). So rather than save, management plans seemed to be based on spend every penny and go chapter 11 when the shit hits the fan. So, does the US government plan seem to be any different? Tax cuts and populist spending, oh and wars, are the methods used to get re-elected. No thought is given to the future. So when is chapter 11 coming for US Inc.?
