I’d be interested in knowing what is at the first few positions on your mental list of recommended books on home architecture. For example, have you esteem for Christopher Alexander’s A Pattern Language or The Timeless Way of Building? Mr Croquette has read these and finds them delightful, but more useful to somebody with a large estate of land with which to work. It would be nice if city planners read them, he argues. Currently, he’s looking at the Haynes Home Extension Manual. We wonder which books people recommend that address home architecture, in general, or home architecture in Ireland, in particular.
