First of his two trials getting underway at last:

This one had been scheduled for April 2017. God knows when the one which had been scheduled for January 2018 will actually start.

He is being charged with shuffling funds between Anglo and Irish Life & Permanent in late 2008, a scheme for which Casey, McAteer and Bowe were jailed in 2016 (and their appeals were dismissed last year). The judge in that case called Drumm "the 'driving force' behind the scheme" but Drumm's not guilty plea today means he gets to spin the Wheel of Injustice for a few months in the hope the prosecution trip themselves up. No wonder the judge today warned the jurors about researching the case!

He's also charged with "furnishing false information to the market in December 2008, giving the impression that deposits from non-banks to Anglo were €7.2bn greater than they were." This charge also sounds like the same issue that the three amigos were done for.

Both charges are about covering up the collapse of Anglo. Of course, if the scheme had worked, these lads would be the heros of Irish banking XX

Spare a thought for the legal teams - two seniors, two juniors and a legion of solicitors enduring five months (judge's estimate) of rehashing this evidence, all at legal aid rates. By the Autumn, asking prices on Ailesbury Rd. will have increased by more than their after-tax earnings on this. Now there's financial injustice for ya :nin

Ten years ago, Drumm was attacking the hedge funds who were shorting Irish banks - a bet that paid off big very shortly afterwards.

And where did David's money go? The liquidator in his bankruptcy told the courts he is likely to recover just one-sixth of the $11.9m (€10.6m) it had been pursuing him for.

Will they get this done in less than six months (ten years after the alleged crime)? If he's convicted, I doubt he'll be sentenced before mid-June.

How many millions spent so far?

The judge tells the jury that they're the judges now (only joking! She also told them to ignore the defence argument that he got the green light from the Regulator)
