Did McW say the banks needed 30 billion or 13 billion?

€30billion.

If tonight's Primetime does not generate fear and panic I do not know what will. :nin

Yep, the situation is becoming more desperate with each passing day and the inaction of the gubberment is breathtaking.
They have no intention of recapatilising until feb.
The calls for the sacking of the banks directors is starting to grow louder and I think there departure is now inevitable but its going to take one hell of a shove.

The Free Legal Aid Centre (FLAC) says reckless lending by credit agencies and sub-prime mortgage providers had forced people to borrow at rates they simply could not afford.
Now the builders have dropped their prices by 20 per cent, and the banks' valuers drop them by another 20 per cent.
For now, we are stuck with a system which allows troubled banks to post their keys through the taxpayers’ door and walk away.

30 billion, based on 7% default rate on outstanding loans.

No holds barred commentary at last. I don't think anyone watching will have been left with any illusions about what's coming our way.

He said historicaly in this type of boom bust scenario it has resulted in 7% of the loan book being written off which applied to Ireland would mean a write off of 30 billion... so 10bllion is not enough, we need 30 if its to make any sense whihc we dont have so the alternative is to consolidate the banks, get rd of hteir management and invest in a silicon valley in Leitrim...the other analyst was good... the bank heads have to go, or at least be asked to resign, outsiders wont touch Irish banks as long as the same people are in charge.
Same stuff from McWilliams really, jaysus if I hear him tell us about Nokia and Finland one more time... do nokia sponsor him ?

Prime Time tried to spice up the video sections with some catchy, indie beats, a bit of Bannarama/Specials.. I wonder did someone in the VT room happen to watch the video of all the empty property in Galway the pinster put up...

never mind all that mullarkey ..Worse than that I never got that cup of tea from herself, I will have to go make it myself. I wonder should I add 1 more to Irelands unemployment figures ....

Jim Stewart of TCD School of Business gave a good assement of Anglo and how they funded their madness (their f*ucked basically).

He also bluntly put the €10BN recap plan like this - we could easily end up losing the entire amount and further more we may not have the capacity to raise further funds for an entirely new rescue plan down the road (we're f*ucked).

McWilliams also predicted that the banks will be on their knees in 6 months time with or without the €10BN recap plan.

I am half thinking of not putting up the xmas tree this weekend and instead heading out to buy a fire proof safe, a pad lock for my front gate and suit case on hand to be packed with clothes come the day I need to flee this absolote mess of a country that Fianna Fail have run into the ground.

Not really... he came across as a bit clueless to me when he accused Anglo of being relatively more reliant on the wholesale markets...
Anglo are actually one of the better ones in this regard, they have a reasonable ratio of deposits to loans.

It's uncredible

three people sitting round discussing how fubarred the banking system is and not a single representative of the government to be found.
Fiann fail and the greens are AWOL on this.

gross incompetence and deriliction of duty
Mcwilliams put the truth out there and they will not be able to duck it.

If they fire in 10 billion without proper supervision they will just have pissed it away.
unbelievable stuff

Anyone who votes Fianna fail out there

This is your fault for voting in the same dumb crooks again and again.

It's the next 100 days I'm worried about.......

seriously lads I know I've been making jokes about shotguns and tins of beans and kruggerands here for a while but I think I'm gonna do a little minor scale stockpiling of food.

If our banks and government could go kerplunk at any moment then I think it might be advisable. probably 6 months early but hey.....
